We offer two levels of service:
Proofreading
We will scrutinize your document and correct the following:
- Spelling mistakes
- Incorrect punctuation and capitalisation
- Grammatical errors
- Duplicate or extra words
- Inconsistencies in house style, headings, page numberings, etc.
- Layout/presentation discrepancies
We will use the BS5261 part two standard marking symbols but if you are unfamiliar with this then a clear correction system will be used instead. If the document has been sent electronically then we will use the "track changes" tool in Microsoft Word to show changes made. You then select or delete the change as appropriate. A separate query list will also be sent if necessary.
Copy Editing
In addition
to proofreading, we will review your document and rewrite where necessary
to improve the clarity and flow of your writing. This will include:
- Rewriting where required to fit your house style
- Identifying possible factual errors
- Ensuring consistent headings
You will receive a query list of any questionable facts and figures, a style sheet for headings, headers/footers, indexing, etc.
